Learning Activities Gr 6-8

Learning Activities is a course tailored to provide specially designed instruction on student IEP goals as well as targeted instruction in study and organizational skills to include study strategies. Additionally, it provides remediation in content areas to support student achievement in general education settings, and it may provide additional time to complete work and class assessments. 

Life Skills Gr 6-8

This course provides students with supports and strategies to develop independent mobility within the community and at home. Students learn to care for their personal needs, clothing, the household, and to prepare nutritious meals. This course builds student independence and prepares them for life as a high school student.

Math Strategies Gr 6-8

This course is designed to provide students with direct and explicit instruction on expanding math concepts, including math calculation and math reasoning. It focuses on using strategies to strengthen learned math skills through research-based instructional programs. The course will make math accessible and engaging, helping students develop a strong foundation in math concepts and skills.

Reading Strategies Gr 6-8

Reading Strategies is designed to enhance students’ reading abilities through direct and explicit instruction in essential reading strategies. Students will engage with research-based instructional programs to develop and strengthen key reading skills, including comprehension, vocabulary, phonics, phonemic awareness, and fluency. Through a combination of interactive lessons, guided practice, and independent reading activities, students will learn to apply various strategies to decode text, understand complex vocabulary, and enhance overall reading comprehension.

Social Skills Gr 6-8

This course is designed to enhance students’ interpersonal abilities and social interactions. It focuses on developing key skills necessary for effective communication and relationship-building. Key areas of focus include communication skills, conflict resolution, social interaction, teamwork, and self-regulation. Through practical exercises, role-playing, and real-world applications, students will gain the tools needed to navigate social situations confidently and build meaningful connections.
